Winter

Winter

a Poem by Raquel Swann
My blood once boiled for you

But the long winter has taken it’s toll.

My love is a frozen lake

Iced, still, stagnant.

Is there hope that we will

Make it through?

Such times are uncertain

The spring is in the distance

We are wearied and may not

Be able to travel this road

Any longer.

We have changed.

I have changed.

When the harsh season comes to an end.

Will we find each other again?

Is there a common ground

Of which we can stand upon?

When the ice splits will we

Stand on opposite sides of this lake?

Looking at each other

Wondering, wishing, that one of us

Could have

Should have

Jumped over the expanse between us

Without the fear of drowning.
