You Weren’t There
a Poem by Raquel Swann
The walls crashed from within my soul. I called
you weren’t there.
There were things I could have said. I cried
you weren’t there.
All of my hopes and dreams were destroyed. I yelled
you weren’t there.
You were the ones I counted on most. I begged
you weren’t there.
I bled from my wounds with no bandage near. I fell
you weren’t there.
One day you will think – where has she been? You’ll look
I’m no longer here.
