Oceanside
a Poem by Raquel Swann
I lay here by the oceanside
wondering when you’d arrive.
Dark and mysterious
you appear to be serious.
Out to ruin my day.
I sit here by the oceanside
wearying over the changing tide.
You’ve moved into position
to begin your demolition.
Out to ruin my week.
I stand here by the oceanside
deliberating when to go inside.
You spew out your gusts
with no regard for us.
Out to ruin my year.
I run away from the oceanside
I barely escape, leaving my pride.
For hours you spun and you shook
no remorse for the house that you took.
Out to ruin my life.
