The Revolution

The Revolution

a Poem by Raquel Swann

The Revolution is upon us

it has been for some time

Some of us are just waking up

to a new world, and are surprised?

The friends you thought were on your side

now fight for a cause that doesn’t align with ours

A side that preaches hate and prejudice

just as deadly as bullets from a gun

Foreign terrorists have no need to intervene

We are doing the damage from within

Like a virus taking over a healthy cell

it’s spreading and will be terminal

if we don’t treat it.

The remedy is love

Who has any left to give?

Who has the ability to fight?

Have we lost our way?

We must battleĀ for our way of life

People must be allowed to live as they see fit

within the confines of the law, of course

The last time you looked at social media

you saw it too, didn’t you?

Family, neighbors, friends

heading for the exits

Working for hate

The devil would be proud

His master plan has begun

Love always has a way of winning, they say

this time, I’m not so sure

It’s going to take a lot of love and understanding

The Revolution isĀ here
