Revelation
a Poem by Raquel Swann
Christmas comes but once a year
Pick your poison – wine or beer
Maybe the hard stuff is what you crave
Not too much – you must behave
Terrible thoughts formed into words
Flying freely like wild birds
Aimed at those who pained your soul
They can’t take it and you’re the troll
Although you feel there is every right
Incoherent slurring ruins the night
They deserve to know how you feel
All your secrets, you reveal
That somehow in this vessel you don’t belong
They knew you for years – you must be wrong
The inner demons that tear you apart
Look forward to a new year and a brand new start
Just when hopes tear at the seams
Do you what makes you happy and follow your dreams.
