Serendipitous

Serendipitous

a Poem by Raquel Swann

You are the rain

after a lifetime drought

the refreshing dew

dripping off leaves

into dry mouths

of creatures

re-emerging from

hidden hollows

where none

dare follow

Where my deepest

secrets laid bare

so long ago

In your eyes

I find familiarity

In your mind

I find comfort

In your heart

I find trust

All which I hold dear

escapes from my lips

without thought

I don’t comprehend

how this happened

Is this some

silly coincidence

or has the universe

reunited us

once more

Within minutes

of conversation

we’ve covered

decades of lost time.
