Free Falling
a Poem By Raquel Swann
I stand from this skyscraper and
Watch people miles down
As if they were ants scouting for food
They can’t see me
From this distance
Nor do I believe they care
They all seem so happy
Content moving from
Place to place
I desperately want to join them
The elevators are broken
The building is on fire
And I don’t know if
I’m ready to jump.
It’s now or never
Perhaps, I’ll just be another victim
Of fear.
I cannot allow myself to feel this way
Anymore.
I decide to hurl myself into the void
Unaware of awaits me.
