Titanic
a Poem By Raquel Swann
Have you ever felt as if
You’ve smashed into an iceberg
And the compartments of your life
Flood over one by one?
The experience is so surreal
Until you step into a puddle
Realizing you will sink
It’s inevitable.
Hurredily, you scan for ladders.
Stairs or elevators
As the water levels rise
Below your very feet
Crowds of others push past
Worried about their own lives
You’re in survival mode
But you feel like you forgot
Something or someone.
When you reach out your hand
Who will grab it in such terrible times?
And lead you ashore.
