Voices From the Past

Voices From the Past

a Poem By Raquel Swann

Familiar voices

Wagering on this

poor soul to falter

In a weakened state

Of mind and body

You speak not of love

But of moments in time

When such things

Were never important

Your whispers are careless

Your thoughts are transparent

I’m immune to this disease

I will remain in the dark

While you pretend

The flashlight you hold

Is the only way through

Uncertainty envelops

The future

Voices From the Past

Echo within a locked

Closet, I will never open again.
