Distance
a Poem by Raquel Swann
Roads are lonely
In between stops
Little towns off random exits
Offer comfort foods
And random strangers
For which I’ll surely never again meet
Sharing stories of a darkened past
As I trek further away from home
At which point will this journey
Become my dwelling
As everything I’ve come to know
Disappears into flashes of memories
I’ll have on cold winter nights
Wrapped in a blanket
Under the stars
Where I belong.
Ahhh, this resonates with me at this point in my life, as I prepare to leave everything I know, to start over. I loved this!
