Secrets

Secrets

a Poem by Raquel Swann

Secrets in the dark of night

Deep within crevices I dare not reach

Unspeakable words

Which may lay ruin to hidden barriers

Thoughts form at my lips

I purse them and retreat

Back into myself

Silence keeps my feelings

At bay

If I rip a hole into

The lining of my heart

Everything will spill

Onto a table not set

As puzzle pieces

Miles away from each other

Are brought back

To form a picture

Etched in my mind

Returned to paper

For all to see

I won’t let that happen

I can’t!
