Treasure

Treasure

a Poem by Raquel Swann

Only a fool, such as you

Accepts such a treasure

Without bothering to look inside

A value everyone sees but you

As you talk with raised hands

Listen with clenched fists

Bartering with a future

You don’t deserve

Sickened with the thought that

Delicate hands caressed your back

Soft lips pressed against yours

Loving arms wrapped around your waist

As the hands of time waste away

I pray you come to your senses

Before the precious treasure inside

Disappears and your left with

Trinkets and Knick Knacks

And an emptiness which

Will never be satisfied.
