World’s End

World’s End

a Poem by Raquel Swann

A rancid smell of death fills my nostrils

The day of reckoning is upon me

All scatter in bewilderment

Remnants of hope out of reach

If I could give up my journey

Here at world’s end, would I?

I choose to trek further into the void

And trust my feet to take me far.

Far away where water flows

And these horrors are left behind

Rotting, decaying, fertilizing

A past I dare not recollect.

Even in my worst nightmares

Such a thing was unimaginable.

Yet, through reality, I find solace

For in my travels, I pray I come

To discover peace within my broken soul.

and make sense out of the nonsensical.

As this adventure continues

My destination has changed.

I will be waiting for me

On the other side and

So shall they.
