Renewed

Renewed

a Poem by Raquel Swann

Call me Spring

a fresh sprout popping it’s head

out of the ground to feel

the warmth of the sun

for the very first time.

Free from seed

a prison for my growth

during the harshest of Winters.

Call me unique

Cross pollinated

with a new species of flower

never before seen by the eyes

Of those who planted me

So many years ago.

Unrecognizable

to those

never wanting to see me grow

in such fashion.

Call me unapologetic

no longer willing to succumb

to your whims

I don’t care what you think

Nor do I need your water.

I am renewed

ever-changing despite

what you think you know

I am no longer who you want me to be

I am real now.

Good bye.
