Call Me By My Name
a Poem By Raquel Swann
It’s dizzying,
As I twirl round and round
Arms extended
Reaching out for someone
To slow me down
Dissect my soul.
Comprehend.
I refuse to pause
And wait for
Someone to match my speed.
Blinding circles
Of what once was
And what will be.
This is me now,
Spinning myself into a cocoon,
Ready to transform
Into something else
Not yet defined.
With confidence,
I lose sight of the past,
Forget what you know
I almost don’t exist any longer.
Call me by my true name,
For I will not answer to another.
