Drown

Drown

a Poem by Raquel Swann

Wading through the water

Looking up at unreachable skies

On such a lovely afternoon,

Dare I venture further out?

As I continue the shore disappears,

Liquid up to my chin,

Yet I still stand.

I’m not so sure I can swim

this channel.

Where will it take me?

What’s on the other side?

Right now,

I’d rather drown,

then turn back.

Right now.
