Unfamiliar
a Poem by Raquel Swann
In a sea of strangers,
the unfamiliar frightens me,
Whispers of past ghosts
Weighing on this wearied soul.
You reach out your hands
Extended in friendship,
Healing begins with a smile,
In familiar eyes.
You’re a rose
Randomly growing in a desert,
How I happened upon you
Is truly a blessing.
With each passing storm,
I wish to be the umbrella,
Shielding you from the rain.
As a true friend should.
