Fear
a Poem by Raquel Swann
You say you fear me,
Perhaps it’s not me,
But an idea,
Wedged between your heart and mind.
I’m not for turning sand into water,
Nor ash into air.
For that would be extraordinary
And such things should be feared.
Our eyes must never meet
even in a glance.
Just a feint touch of my skin to yours
Should be outlawed.
Close your doors
Windows,
And walls.
Give in to your fear,
So you will get to hold your
Feelings inside forever.
