Painted Skies
a Poem by Raquel Swann
Looking up at painted skies,
With painted eyes
Inside these walls
She tells them lies
Is it for their good?
Or simply parenthood
To live her truth
She wished she could.
Watching departing ships
With painted lips
When she tries to leave
Her boat always tips.
A day will come
A shock to some
She will be brave
And no longer run
Dancing in silk and lace
With painted face
Someday there’ll be someone
She could embrace.
