Another Time, Another Place
a Poem by Raquel Swann
We could have met years ago,
when the fruit from our trees
were ripe, ready for harvest.
A place where rainbows sprout
Over the horizon before a storm.
This everlasting Winter in my heart,
Feels the warmth of spring.
As I slip into a daydream,
Six degrees of separation becomes,
Five, four, three, two, one.
Within my trance,
I feel your hand rub my chest,
Pure silk wrapped around my body.
I gaze into your eyes,
And see far beyond the green meadows,
Adorned with flowers of every hue.
Your embrace feels as if
I’m laying upon a cloud.
On the other side of the universe,
Life calls me back,
And I retreat swiftly,
Wondering if this was
Another time, another place,
I could be me,
You would still see through me,
And nothing else would matter.
A tear forms at my eye,
I weep.
For my dreams to come true.
