Disconnect
a Poem by Raquel Swann
Wires tangled in a bag,
You find an end that fits your needs,
Trying to trace it to the source,
Seems impossible.
So you pull on it and it knots,
Bringing with it all those cables,
That lay there waiting to be used again.
They are obsolete.
Coax replaced by HDMI,
a new standard.
Untangle this madness,
and forget about the disconnect,
In your heart.
Clearer picture, high definition,
You soon forget why you rummaged,
Through the refuse,
Seeking backwards compatibility.
Sometimes it doesn’t exist,
And you have to move on.
