Outed

Outed

a Poem by Raquel Swann

As a gay man,

I’d think you’d know better.

There was a time when you held secrets dear.

There was a time when you lived inside your fear.

Spilling my dreams like a hole in the bottom of a pool.

It is I, for trusting you with these thoughts, a fool.

You outed me,

For personal gain?

To cause me pain?

What a shame.

Another reason why our family

Sometimes feels like 5th cousins.

Nothing in common,

Separated from the bloodline,

A family tree twisting into shadows.

I hate what you did.

You hurt me.

My trust in others is shaken.

Forever.

Thank you.
