Love on the Rocks

a Poem by Raquel Swann

Stale salty air

mounds of seaweed

line an empty beach

the cold grey waters smell of death

starving seagulls whine for nourishment

razor sharp boulders at low tide

warn as our boat approaches

a damaged sail,

an overwhelmed captain

an unfaithful crew,

dreadful black clouds

shed tears for our plight

Steer away!

It’s too late!

Abandon Ship!

the unforgiving rocks

watch and wait

shred us to bits and pieces.
