If Tomorrow

a Poem by Raquel Swann

If tomorrow never comes

don’t say I didn’t try

all that’s left for today

I left it on the line.

Each second you waste

Gets collected in a box

All those empty moments

Stay buried in the sand

Every minute you pass over

A droplet of water

drips in an empty bottle

stagnates on a table

flies swarm rotting fruit

which was never eaten

sweet aromas turn sour

the stores have run dry

If tomorrow never comes

and that could be the case

I will NOT lay here wishing

I had just one more day.
