Broken, beaten,
a part of life’s cruel game
consistent pressure,
knees give in,
grounded, helpless,
will to fight,
becomes,
the won’t to fight,
the struggle, the battle,
is too much to bear,
stay down,
life’s lunge,
and jab are fierce.
I could take one more punch,
but getting up, again,
doesn’t sound such a good idea,
anymore.
