Unwanted

a Poem by Raquel Swann

Unwanted, orphaned

left out to fester in the sun,

blistering, rotting, begging,

for your attention.

what should I think

when you stare out at me

through the window

but close the blinds?

a wounded dog whimpering,

will you but bring me some water?

At this point keeping me alive

any longer would be torture.
